Privacy Policy
Effective date: Oct 26, 2026 · Last updated: Oct 26, 2026
1. Who we are
"SemiLife," "we," "us" and "our" mean the operator of getsemilife.com. SemiLife is currently operated by its founder ahead of forming a legal entity; this policy will be updated with the legal entity's name and mailing address once it is formed. Until then you can reach us at getsemilife@gmail.com.
This policy covers getsemilife.com and the emails we send. It does not cover third-party websites, carriers or recruiters, which have their own policies.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account & sign-in: email address, display name and role (e.g., company driver, owner-operator). We use email codes/links instead of passwords.
- Email list: your email and your consent when you ask for a checklist or updates.
- Reviews, questions, answers, votes and reports you post about carriers.
- Driver job applications: name, email, mobile phone, ZIP code (and the state we derive from it), best time to call, CDL class, experience, endorsements, equipment, job and pay preferences, home-time preference, and driving-record answers (moving violations, preventable accidents, DUI/DWI in the last 7 years, and failed/refused drug or alcohol tests or SAP status).
- Privacy requests and messages you send us.
- Searches you run, such as VINs and USDOT/MC numbers, and inputs to tools like the load calculator.
Information collected automatically
- Device and log data: IP address, browser/user agent, pages visited, referring page, date and time, and error logs, collected by our hosting provider and our servers.
- Consent records: when you submit a job application we record the exact consent wording you saw, its version, whether you checked each box, the time, your IP address, your user agent and the page URL, so we can prove what you agreed to.
- Campaign data: if you arrive from a link with tracking parameters (utm_source, utm_campaign, etc.) we save them with your application to know which ads or posts work.
Public data we show
Carrier and vehicle pages show public government data (for example from FMCSA and NHTSA), such as company names, USDOT/MC numbers, business addresses and phone numbers, inspection and crash summaries, and recalls. This is business information published by the U.S. government; we show it as-is and are not affiliated with FMCSA, NHTSA or USDOT. Some of it may concern sole proprietors; you can ask us to correct how it is displayed (see Contact), but the source record can only be changed by the agency.
Sensitive information. Driving-record answers and precise contact details can be sensitive. We only ask what carriers need to pre-screen drivers, we use it only for job matching, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you. Please do not post sensitive information (health, SSN, license numbers, etc.) in reviews or Q&A.
3. How we use information
- To run the site: VIN and carrier lookups, tools, accounts, reviews and Q&A.
- To match job applicants with carriers and recruiters and to send applications to them (only with your consent — see section 4).
- To send transactional emails (sign-in codes, application confirmations, replies to your requests).
- To send newsletters or checklists you asked for. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe option.
- To moderate content, prevent spam, fraud and abuse (e.g., rate limits, honeypots, duplicate detection), and keep the site secure.
- To understand and improve the site, and to measure which campaigns bring visitors.
- To comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect rights and safety.
4. Driver applications and carriers
SemiLife is not an employer, staffing agency or recruiter. When you apply through SemiLife Jobs and check the consent box, you allow us to share your application with trucking carriers and recruiters whose openings match your profile. SemiLife may receive payment from those carriers or recruiters (for example, a fee per application). That is how the service stays free for drivers.
- We share only with carriers/recruiters that we believe match your profile, and only after you consent.
- Once a carrier or recruiter receives your application, its own privacy policy and hiring practices apply. We ask them to use it only for recruiting you and to honor opt-out requests, but we do not control them.
- If you do not check the consent box, we keep your application but do not share it or call/text you about jobs.
- Carriers make their own hiring decisions, run their own background checks (such as MVR and PSP reports) and are responsible for complying with employment and consumer-reporting laws. SemiLife is not a consumer reporting agency and does not provide background checks.
- You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 7 and section 12). Withdrawal stops future sharing; it can't recall applications already delivered, but we will tell you who received yours on request.
5. Who we share information with
- Carriers and recruiters — job applications, only with your consent, as described above. This may be for money.
- Service providers that run the site for us under contract, such as hosting and cookieless web analytics (Vercel), database, file storage and sign-in (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), and AI document analysis for ECM uploads (Google Gemini API), and our email inbox provider. They may only use the data to provide services to us.
- Everyone (public content) — reviews, questions and answers you post are public along with your display name.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect rights, property or safety, including responding to claims about content.
- Business transfers — if SemiLife is reorganized into a company, merged, financed or sold, information may transfer to the successor, which must honor this policy.
- With your direction — any other sharing you ask for.
We do not sell or share your email list subscription, reviews, account data or searches for money, and we do not use third-party advertising cookies at this time.
6. "Selling" and "sharing" under U.S. state privacy laws
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA ("CCPA") and similar laws, providing personal information to another business for money or other valuable consideration may be a "sale." Providing driver applications to carriers and recruiters for a fee is a sale of personal information. In the past 12 months the categories sold were: identifiers (name, email, phone), general location (ZIP code/state), professional or employment-related information (license, experience, endorsements, equipment, job preferences) and driving-record answers, to trucking carriers and recruiters. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 18.
We do not currently "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes we will update this policy and honor opt-outs, including Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals, which we treat as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser.
Opt out any time: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information or email getsemilife@gmail.com with the subject "Do Not Sell".
7. Calls, texts and email
If you check the consent box on a job application, you agree that SemiLife and the carriers and recruiters matching your profile may contact you by phone, SMS and email, including via automated technology and autodialed messages, at the number you provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or service. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies.
- Stop texts: reply STOP to any text message. Reply HELP for help.
- Stop calls: tell the caller, or email us and we will pass your request on to carriers we sent your application to.
- Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link or email us. Transactional emails (like sign-in codes) may still be sent when you use the site.
We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text-messaging consent for marketing unrelated to the job matching you asked for.
8. Reviews, Q&A and other public content
Reviews, questions, answers and your display name are public and may be seen, copied or indexed by anyone. Don't post personal information about yourself or others. You can delete your own posts; copies may remain in backups for a limited time and may already have been copied by others. We may remove or hide content under our content rules.
8a. ECM report uploads (AI analysis)
- What you upload: when you use ECM AI Analysis (signed-in users only) you upload up to 5 files of an engine / ECM report (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text or photos) and, optionally, a VIN.
- Who processes it: the files are sent to the Google Gemini API (paid tier) to produce the summary. On the paid tier Google does not use the content to improve its products. Word, Excel and text files are converted to text on our server first.
- Files are deleted within 24 hours — normally right after the analysis finishes. Files are stored in a private storage bucket that only your account and our server can access.
- The result (the AI summary, VIN if given, file names and basic usage counts) is saved to your account so you can open it again; only you can see it. Email us to delete it.
- Please upload only reports you have the right to share, and avoid documents with personal information (names, addresses, license numbers).
9. Cookies, local storage and analytics
- Essential storage: we use your browser's local/session storage to keep you signed in, remember an in-progress application on that device, and remember campaign parameters for your visit.
- Analytics (Vercel Web Analytics): we use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service from our hosting provider, to count page views and a few anonymous actions (for example, that a job application was started, moved to the next step or submitted, that a review or newsletter signup was completed, or that a guide's call-to-action was clicked). It is cookieless: it does not set cookies or use cross-site identifiers. Visitors are counted using a hash derived from the incoming request that Vercel discards after 24 hours. Each data point may include the page URL, referring site, approximate location (country/region/city), browser, operating system and device type. We strip query parameters (except campaign tags such as utm_source) before data is sent, and we never send your name, email, phone number or application answers to analytics. Data is used only in aggregate to understand and improve the site. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy notice.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard logs (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver the site, fix errors and prevent abuse.
- We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add them, we will update this policy and provide any required opt-outs.
- Our emails are transactional and do not use open or click tracking.
- You can clear or block storage in your browser settings, but sign-in and some features may stop working.
10. How long we keep data
- Driver applications: up to 24 months after your last application or update, then deleted or de-identified, unless you ask us to delete sooner.
- Consent records (wording, time, IP, user agent): up to 5 years after collection, because we may need them to prove consent under the TCPA and similar laws.
- Accounts and public posts: while your account is active or until you delete them.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe (we keep a suppression record so we don't email you again).
- Uploaded ECM report files: deleted within 24 hours (usually right after analysis). The analysis result stays in your account until you ask us to delete it.
- Rate-limit and security logs: generally up to 12 months.
- Privacy requests: at least 24 months, as required by law.
11. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), row-level access controls in our database, server-only secret keys, two-factor authentication on key admin accounts, and limited access to applicant data. No method is 100% secure; if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you as required by law.
12. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live in the U.S., you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you, and give you a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information (including your job application);
- stop selling or sharing your information, and stop calls/texts from SemiLife;
- tell you which carriers or recruiters received your application.
Send requests through our privacy request form or to getsemilife@gmail.com. We will verify your request by contacting you at the email or phone we have on file, and respond within 45 days (we may extend once by 45 days where allowed, and we will tell you why). You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of authorization and to verify your identity directly. If we deny your request you may appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject; we will respond within the time required by your state's law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
13. California residents
In addition to section 12, California residents have the right to:
- know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose or sell it to;
- delete and correct personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information);
- limit use of sensitive personal information — we only use it for purposes permitted without that right (providing the service you asked for);
- non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

14. Other U.S. states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (for example Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nebraska, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky and Rhode Island) may have rights to access, correct, delete and port their data, to opt out of sale, targeted advertising and certain profiling, and to appeal our decisions. We honor these requests for all U.S. users the same way, as described in section 12, whether or not a particular law applies to us. Nevada residents may opt out of sales using the same page.
15. Children
SemiLife is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use SemiLife, create an account, post content or apply for jobs. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we will delete it. Contact us if you believe a minor gave us information.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SemiLife grows (for example, when we form our company or add partners). We will change the "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will give notice on the site or by email. We will not use previously collected data in a materially different way without your consent where the law requires it.
