Terms of Use
Effective date: Oct 26, 2026 · Last updated: Oct 26, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and SemiLife ("SemiLife," "we," "us"). SemiLife is currently operated by its founder ahead of forming a legal entity; these Terms will be updated with the entity's name and address once formed, and that entity will take over this agreement. By using getsemilife.com (the "Site") you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.
2. Who can use SemiLife
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. If you use SemiLife for a business, you agree to these Terms for that business too.
3. What SemiLife is (and isn't)
- SemiLife is an information hub and marketplace for the trucking community: VIN decoding and recall lookups, carrier lookups, calculators, guides, driver reviews and Q&A, and job matching.
- SemiLife is not a carrier, broker, employer, staffing agency, lender, insurer, dealer, consumer reporting agency, or a government agency. We are not affiliated with FMCSA, NHTSA or USDOT.
- Nothing on SemiLife is legal, financial, tax, mechanical or safety advice. Tools like the load calculator give estimates only.
- We can change, add or remove features at any time. The Site is a prototype and may have errors or downtime.
4. Vehicle and carrier data
VIN, recall and carrier pages use public data from government sources (such as NHTSA vPIC, NHTSA recalls and FMCSA datasets on data.transportation.gov). This data can be incomplete, delayed or wrong, and we show it as-is. A SemiLife VIN check is not a title history report (such as an NMVTIS report) and does not show liens, accidents or odometer history unless stated. Always confirm carrier status on SAFER and with the carrier, get a pre-purchase inspection, and check title and liens before buying a truck. You use this data at your own risk and may not use it for any purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (for example, as a factor in eligibility for credit, insurance or employment).
5. Accounts
You sign in with a one-time code or link sent to your email. Keep access to your email secure and don't share codes — anyone with the code can sign in as you. You're responsible for activity on your account. Pick a display name that doesn't impersonate anyone or include contact info or offensive words. We may reclaim or change display names that break these rules.
6. Reviews, Q&A and content rules
"Content" means reviews, ratings, tags, questions, answers, votes, reports and anything else you post. You are responsible for your Content. By posting you promise that:
- it's based on your own, first-hand experience and is honest; opinions are clearly opinions;
- you are not an owner, employee, recruiter or competitor of the carrier you review (or you clearly disclose that relationship), and you were not paid or given anything for the review;
- it contains no false statements of fact about any person or company (defamation), and no threats, harassment, hate speech, sexual content or violence;
- it contains no personal information such as home addresses, personal phone numbers, license or SSN numbers, medical info, or photos of private documents — including about dispatchers, drivers or other individuals;
- it contains no spam, ads, referral codes, links for profit, or job postings outside SemiLife Jobs;
- it doesn't violate anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights, or any law, and doesn't share confidential company information (e.g., rate confirmations with broker/shipper details);
- it doesn't impersonate anyone or manipulate ratings (multiple accounts, vote rings, review swaps).
License you give us. You keep ownership of your Content. You give SemiLife a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable license to host, store, display, reproduce, adapt (e.g., formatting or translation), publish and distribute it in connection with the Site and promoting SemiLife, including after you delete your account for Content others have replied to. You waive any claim against SemiLife over how your Content is displayed, as allowed by law.
Third-party content. Content is created by users, not SemiLife. We don't verify it, and it doesn't reflect our views. As an interactive computer service, SemiLife is not the publisher or speaker of user Content, consistent with 47 U.S.C. § 230. Ratings and averages are based on user submissions and may not be statistically representative.
7. Moderation and takedowns
- We may (but don't have to) review, hide, edit for formatting, or remove any Content, and suspend accounts, at our discretion — for example if it breaks these rules, is reported, or might expose anyone to legal risk. Content with several user reports may be hidden automatically pending review.
- We don't remove truthful, honest negative reviews just because a company dislikes them. We follow the Consumer Review Fairness Act.
- Report content: use the Report button on the post, or email getsemilife@gmail.com with the page link, the exact content, and why it's unlawful or breaks these rules. If you claim a statement is false, explain what's false and provide supporting information. Companies may also request a public response option.
- Copyright (DMCA): send notices to getsemilife@gmail.com with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). We will update this section with a registered DMCA agent once our company is formed. We terminate repeat infringers.
- Legal process: subpoenas and court orders should be sent to the same email. We may notify the affected user before disclosing their information, where lawful.
8. SemiLife Jobs (driver applications)
- When you apply, you promise your information is true, complete and yours. Don't apply for someone else.
- If you check the consent box, you authorize SemiLife to share your application and contact information with trucking carriers and recruiters that match your profile. SemiLife may be paid by those carriers or recruiters. Applying is free for drivers.
- SemiLife doesn't guarantee that you will be contacted, interviewed, offered a job, or offered any specific pay, home time or equipment. Carriers decide who they hire and set job terms, and they are responsible for their own hiring, background checks, and compliance with employment, anti-discrimination, FCRA and DOT/FMCSA rules (including drug and alcohol testing and Clearinghouse queries).
- We don't endorse any carrier. Check any carrier's safety record, authority and reviews before signing on, and read every lease-purchase or owner-operator contract carefully.
- Carriers and recruiters that receive applications must use them only to recruit that driver, comply with applicable law (including the TCPA and state telemarketing laws), honor opt-outs, and not resell them. Separate business terms apply to them.
9. Calls, texts and email
By checking the consent box on an application, you agree that SemiLife may share your application and contact information with trucking carriers and recruiters matching your profile, and that SemiLife and such carriers/recruiters may contact you by phone, SMS and email, including via automated technology and autodialed messages, at the number you provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or service. Msg & data rates may apply; frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. You confirm you are the subscriber or customary user of the phone number you give us, and you will tell us if it changes.
10. Partners, ads and paid features
SemiLife may show ads and partner offers (for example warranty, financing or insurance) and may earn a fee or commission when you click, request a quote or buy. We label partner offers. Partners are independent; their terms and privacy policies apply, and we aren't responsible for their products. If we offer paid features (such as reports), the price and any refund terms will be shown before you pay.
11. Our content and your license to use SemiLife
The Site, its design, text, graphics, logos, the SemiLife name and software belong to SemiLife or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-commercial, revocable license to use the Site as intended. Public government data remains public; our compilations, ratings and presentation of it are ours. Feedback you send us may be used freely without obligation to you.
12. Prohibited use
- Scraping, crawling, bulk downloading or reselling Site data or Content, except standard search-engine indexing allowed by our robots.txt.
- Using SemiLife data to make eligibility decisions about credit, insurance, employment or housing, or to harass or stalk anyone.
- Submitting fake applications, fake reviews, or someone else's information; using bots or automated submissions.
- Probing, attacking or overloading the Site, bypassing rate limits or security, or accessing data you aren't allowed to access.
- Using the Site to break any law, including spam, telemarketing and privacy laws.
13. Disclaimers
The Site, data, tools and Content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that any truck, carrier, partner or job is safe, legitimate or suitable for you. Decisions you make based on the Site are your own responsibility.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SemiLife and its owners, members, employees and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue, data, loads or employment opportunities, arising from or related to the Site, any Content, any carrier, partner or other user, or these Terms. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid SemiLife in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
15. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless SemiLife and its owners, members, employees and agents from claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your Content, your use of the Site, or your violation of these Terms or anyone's rights.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at getsemilife@gmail.com and try to resolve it informally for 30 days. Any dispute that isn't resolved will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, Florida, and you and SemiLife consent to their personal jurisdiction; either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court where eligible. To the extent permitted by law, claims must be brought individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative action.
17. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give notice on the Site or by email. Continuing to use the Site after changes take effect means you accept them. You can stop using SemiLife at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or to protect the Site or others. Sections that by nature should survive (content license, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.
18. Other terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and SemiLife about the Site. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them, including to the company we form to operate SemiLife. Notices to you may be sent by email or posted on the Site.
